Vintage Engagement by Adrian Michael

Love of a lifetime that is the kind of love that Melody and Paul share. Melody remembers the day she first laid eyes on Paul. “We were 10 years old. His family moved to Shellbrook to Pastor our church and I remember watching him and his four younger siblings file into the pew at the front on that Sunday morning. We were a part of each others life from then on.”

Over the years Paul and Melody would often catch each others eyes but they never dated. After graduating high school, they both moved away from their hometown and unknowingly, only blocks apart. “I didn't see Paul for 6 years after high school. But interestingly enough, when we did finally run into each other, we had been living only blocks from each other almost the entirety of those 6 years.”

As soon as Melody and Paul saw each other, sparks began flying. But it’s not always that simple. "I saw a part of him that was the same person I knew when we were kids and also someone completely new. Someone who could have only matured in choosing to not sucomb to life's unexpected hardships.

On the day of the shoot with Adrian Michael Photography, Paul surprised Melody by getting down on one knee. “The shoot was a really special day for us as the papers came and Paul actually proposed during the photos. I had not expected it that day so I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement.”

A special detail from their engagement shoot was a 100-year-old poetry book that was Melody’s great-grandfather’s. “My dad passed it down to me and I love leafing through and reading such romantic Old English where hearts were poured out into the entries.”

While no two love stories are ever the same, one important detail remains true, “Love is not always easy but it’s always worth fighting for.”
